The problems facing the health care system are many. High costs, staffing shortages, and the many uninsured to name a few. I recently became aware of the situation regarding our local health cares system Sutter Health/ Mills Peninsula Health Service (MPHS) and the importance of the events unfolding.
This is a very complex issue and I'm no expert but I do believe before this organization (MPHS) is given a deal on the leases it seeks, certain terms should be met. First and most important is quality of care. I want guarantees that the care in these hospitals is the best it can be. Pricing is also very important and should be looked at very carefully by the Peninsula Health Care District (PHCD). And I see no reason why more of the profits generated in San Mateo County should not be reinvested right here at home. The uninsured and people of limited means should receive a break when it determined they are unable to pay for services. I encourage the citizens of this county to get involved and insist on what we all deserve
