Editor,
As if there aren’t enough problems to deal with in this country, the left is at it again finding racism where the isn’t any.
Country musician Jason Aldean has sparked controversy with his new song and accompanying music video for his song titled “Try that in a Small Town.” The song contains no lyrics about race and only uses actual new footage in its video, yet many of the left have decried this song as a racist dog whistle of some sort.
The song is a reflection of small-town values compared to those of major city values in this country. It is hard to argue the cultural difference between these places, but people fail to recognize people of all races, religions and sexual orientations live in small towns and share the same community values. The real irony is that people are saying this song will inspire violence and must be banned. However, those same people have no problem with rap music and the violence, homophobia and misogyny it has been promoting for decades. It’s yet another classic leftist tactic, it’s only wrong if it is being done by the opposing party or its supporters.
It is no longer an option to change to station or watch another program if you don’t like it. Now, you must go to war against anything that isn’t solely backed by the party you vote. Truly a sad comment on society today.

Thanks for your letter, Mr. Guttenbeil. Nowadays, the left has turned the word “racism” and “racist” into a common word with no real meaning. But, it does give us a glimpse into the person using it as an attack – easily triggered, more emotional than logical, not to be taken seriously… Another sad comment on society today.
That's correct...racism does not exist in any form in the U.S. today. Thanks for clarifying.
Easily triggered, more emotional than logical, not to be taken seriously? You surely are referring to the 45th president, Donald J. Trump.
Two for one…
I’m not sure I’d go that far, GE52, but if that’s how you feel… I commend you for owning it. So now that we’re colorblind in the U.S. we need to expand to infinity, and beyond…
SMTO_LOCAL, interesting proposition. Let’s analyze the comment from one who would make such a conclusion. Instead of reading the entire comment to understand context, they essentially are triggered by cherry-picked words they don’t like and then responding via emotion rather than logic. Due to this, they can’t be taken seriously. Another sad comment on society today.
I wish that racism did not exist in our nation today...I was being facetious.
