Editor,

Developers have contributed more than $115,000 and counting, so far, to pass Measure T and overturn all of Measure Y, passed by San Mateans to stop runaway urbanization in San Mateo. Our voices don’t matter, our opinions are ignored, our city is being bought and our tax dollars paid for their ballot measure. Measure Y concentrates development downtown and along transit corridors, does not allow developers to skirt affordable units, and meets the state’s RHNA requirement. With state density bonus law, buildings up to 10 stories can already be built.

Thanks for identifying additional reasons why Measure T should be rejected, in its proposed form.

Outside influence, State mandates would subvert our local decision-making and lead to a loss of our unique City of San Mateo.

Los Angeles-ization of California is NOT what we need.

Affordable housing mandates, such as are established in our Measure Y, ARE what we need to advance.
