Editor,
Elon Musk is all about accountability and efficiency plus people doing a good job. That though raises a few questions:
First, why aren’t all the Cabinet member and Elon Musk himself required to submit a weekly five bullet points as to what they are working each week? This should be posted on a government webpage so all the citizens can review to determine if they are working on the right things.
Second, Mr. Tom Homan is in charge of deporting illegal immigrants. What is that costing? Mr. Homan should be reporting on a weekly basis also the true cost of this effort. This should also include the number of individuals captured as well as the number surveilled. His report should include:
1). Number of agents on each surveillance and hours worked that week;
2). Number of agents on each capture and hours worked that week;
3). Number of captures;
4). Number of surveillances; and
5). Costs.
a). Burdened cost of agents;
b). Cost of vehicles;
c). Cost of support staff; and
d). Facilities and sundries.
Quick check of minimal cost: 10 agents per capture, burdened cost per hour of agent, approximate number of captures YTD. Estimated cost = 10x100x8,000 = $8,000,000. Can you imagine the cost if there are really 2 million captures, not just roughly 8,000?
Cannot wait to see Mr. Homan’s weekly report.

Pssst! It's Jon Mays not Hays.
Jorg, your comment is personal and hateful. Regardless, Jon Hays will not block your comment, because Jon is prejudiced and hate filled like you. Is this a personal attack?
Good points Mr. Krainz. Unelected President Musk and his ketamine-fueled shredding of our government, including firing thousands of veterans and non-partisan workers, closing any program aiding the sick, old, and needy, comandeering formerly secure information at the Treasury and SSA, and eliminating any department with oversight on his exploding cars and spaceships is well on his way to steering us into a deep recession. Rel said it best in his comment (forgive me for stealing) so far 47 is halfway through his first 100 days and prices are going up - eggs, anyone? - the market is going down - more like crashing - our allies are being treated as enemies and our enemies as allies - we sided with Putin against Ukraine???!! - and the government is being shredded. I don't believe that anyone voted for this.
SMpool, you say, “I don't believe that anyone voted for this.” I’d say over 77 million voters voted for “this” and polls show that the vast majority of people continue to approve of Trump’s actions. BTW, for the most part, the “President Musk” tactic has been retired because it was not convincing. Since then, Dems have resorted to singing and holding paddle signs. Oh yes, and StreetFighter-esqe videos. It’s interesting that Trump created the Trump dance and it became a global hit yet when Dems have their dance, it’s described as “cringeworthy.” I’ll let viewers decide.
Thanks Bob for helping Trump look Great! Each illegal immigrant squatter costs U.S. taxpayers $65,000 a year. Consequently, if it costs $1,000 to capture each illegal immigrant squatting in the USA, then we save $64,000 per squatter or 8,000 x $64,000 = $512 MILLION.
Well said!
Thanks for your letter, Mr. Krainz, but you’re misunderstanding the point of the five bullet point email. We know Musk and all Cabinet members have a pulse but we don’t know whether all federal employees do. “Regular” companies are beginning to use the same tactic. As for what you’re hoping from Mr. Homan’s report, I’m fine with the cost. It’s likely that Mr. Musk’s effort will result in saving much more than it cost to deport invaders to our country. BTW, I’d recommend you visit doge.com to see what Musk and his band of merry men are up to. Eye-opening.
Good morning, Bob
Not a bad idea if we hold such an accounting up against what the border policies of the past four years have cost.
Good morning Ray.
You can do better in your commentary. Did Biden require federal employees give 5 bullet points of their activity? Where does President Musk get his authority? By no rule of law that exists that requires the employees answer to him.
Hi, Rel
Bob wants accountability... that's fair. Let's apply the same to costs paid for the last administration's border policies. That's fair, n'est-ce pas? Those costs were paid with blood and treasure. While we're at it... maybe an accounting of the many, many billions of dollars sent to Ukraine by the past administration. That would be nice, too.
You make reference to "President Musk"... OK. Turnabout is fair play. Who was president during the last administration? It sure as heck was not Biden. Re: there is no hard requirement for any employees to respond with a list of five things they accomplished... don't you think their supervisors would want to know? Don't you think the American people would want to know? Don't you think those employees would want us to know what kind of job they're doing?
Rel... we're pals. We can be honest with each other. Refusal to do such a minor task is just resistance to the current administration. It's that simple. We saw defiance to the current administration during President Trump's remarks to Congress earlier this week.
How did that work out?
It did not work out. Trump has all the power he needs to do good things in the world and try to unite the country. All he did yesterday in his address to Congress was throw red meat to his followers and deride his opposition. He is president to everyone yet he does nothing but heap praise on himself. I am willing to see what happens after the benchmark 100 days, but so far he is half way there and prices are going up, the market going down, our allies are being treated as enemies while our enemies are being treated as friends on the national scale, and government is being weakened on every scale.

HUD completed the same audit. Initial findings on paid software licenses:
- 35,855 ServiceNow licenses on three products; only using 84
- 11,020 Acrobat licenses with zero users
- 1,776 Cognos licenses; only using 325
- 800 WestLaw Classic licenses; only using 216
- 10,000 Java licenses; only using 400
Maybe it's time to praise DOGE and Musk?
