Before San Mateo County District 2 voters reelect Noelia Corzo, they should remember how close she came to never serving at all. In the June 2022 primary, Corzo finished second in her own district — 43% to Charles Stone’s 46%. She needed a runoff to win, and even then won by fewer than 1,500 votes out of 53,000 cast. Nearly half her district voted against her before she took a single vote. A supervisor with that margin has one obligation above all others: earn the trust of the people who didn’t choose her.
Her handling of the sobering center, her pattern of being outvoted by colleagues, and her use of racial framing in public policy debates suggest she never tried. District 2 deserves a supervisor who represents the whole district — not just the half that voted for her. That is why, for the first time in my life, I am writing in a candidate. His name is Taso Zografos and I’m writing in “Taso” for San Mateo County District 2 supervisor.
