For the past 70 plus years, the conservative Republicans have believed that the U.S. government should be run like a for-profit business and that a businessman should be president. Both beliefs are wrong. Unfortunately, they picked the wrong corrupt and incompetent businessman to be president.
Conservative Republicans (and Trump) believe that the smaller the government, the less taxes they have to pay and the more of their own money and profits they can keep. They also believe that the smaller the government, the less amount of regulatory and enforcement agencies there will be, and the more illegal activities they can get away with.
Conservative Republicans believe that the amount of taxes they pay should only benefit themselves, individually, and not benefit anyone else, collectively. They want to receive government services and benefits, but they don’t want to pay for them.
For a political party that wants government to run like a for-profit business, they sure don’t understand how business works, or how government works.
I believe Democrats sealed their unelectable elite status when Hillary traded the working class for academic elites running against Trump. The result was Trump won two elections he might not have but for Hilary’s decision.
Thanks for your letter, Mr. Oberg, with another false narrative from the Democrat playbook. I’d bet most people aren’t too worried about the past 70 years. Instead, they’re worried about the past decade as Democrats are pulled further to the rabid left. For instance why do Democrats prefer waste, fraud, and abuse remain in our government? Why do Dems support keeping invaders in our country? Why do Dems say they believe in global warming but not really? As evidenced by their newfound hate and vitriol against Mr. Musk? Seems to me that we don’t need to worry about how business or government works – we need to worry why Dems hate America.
I have an acquaintance who eventually seemed somewhat uncomfortable referring to himself as a “Republican”, so he conveniently recategorized himself as “Conservative”, - whatever the difference is.
I remember when I was in my early teens, my Dad explained to me what being a “Conservative” means: “Someone who doesn’t want any changes or improvement, and instead like things as they were in the past, despite inequities and lack of improvements in society, as long as they themselves are comfortable.”

Will l see you at the Hands Off protest today? It feels like half the Peninsula will be there.
Yes, while the other 50% is watching your ilk knock themselves out in their TDS tantrums. Losing must be awfully difficult to accept.
