Editor,
As a conservative Republican who values limited government, family values and equal treatment under the law, I must respond to the recent letter “Conservative Republicans” with clarity and conviction.
First, the role of government should be to protect individual liberties — not to control our daily lives. Excessive regulations and government overreach only hinder innovation, freedom and personal responsibility. We believe in empowering citizens, not creating dependency.
Second, strong families are the foundation of a stable society. Upholding traditional family values ensures future generations are raised with integrity, accountability and respect. Policies should support parental rights and the moral development of children — not undermine them.
Finally, justice must be blind. The law should be applied equally to all, regardless of political status or social influence. We cannot tolerate a system where some are shielded from consequences while others are unfairly targeted. Equal enforcement of the law is a cornerstone of our republic.
Disagreement within our party is healthy, but we must never stray from these guiding principles. Limited government, strong families and fair justice aren’t just Republican ideals — they are American ones. Let’s stay focused on what unites us and what truly strengthens our nation.

Mr. Avila, no where in the US Constitution does it say that the government should protect individual liberties. It ACTUALLY SAYS, the main task of the government is to "ensure the well being of its citizens". Every student in California learned that in the 8th grade. Where were you and TY? As far as family values and equal justice, that is a laugh, as Trump's current behavior is destroying that myth. Nice try, but, not good enough.
Hey Mike O., where, exactly, does the US Constitution say, “ensure the well being of its citizens”? I could be wrong but I don’t recall the word “ensure” being used anywhere in the US Constitution. Are you speaking of another Constitution, Upper Sweden (also US) or California? Regardless, our US (as in United States) Constitution includes the Bill of Rights. And you can’t get much more individual than that.
If you don’t believe me, you can do a simple search for “does the constitution protect individual liberties” and see what pops up. I think the more important question is where were you when the US Constitution was discussed, in any grade or institute of higher education? And did you lose connection to access search engines before posting? Nowhere close and nowhere good enough to a nice try. Thanks for the laugh, though. BTW, isn't a citizen an individual?
Thank you, Michael Avila, for showing us how to write a Letter to the Editor. If only others submitting LTE’s would follow your lead with words of clarity and conviction. Unfortunately, your hope to, “Let’s stay focused on what unites us and what truly strengthens our nation,” has currently flown the coop. It takes two to tango and the Democrat side of the aisle and their fawning and complicit mainstream media isn’t willing to dance. In fact, I’d say things have become worse as the “other side” ramps up their vitriol and hatred along with manufactured outrage and outright lies. There’s a reason the Democrat party is “enjoying” the lowest approval ratings in their history, as are the mainstream press.
