With now free access to general purpose large language models, having an artificial intelligence buddy in your pocket is now available to everyone. And if you’re not using it yet, today is just as good as any to start.

Whether it’s ChatGPT through OpenAI or Copilot, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Mistral, Llama or whatever is next on the horizon, for everyday use it won’t really matter much. If you’re doing research requiring massive context windows or have other more specific requirements, then yes — certain models will outperform others. For this exercise, pick one where the user or app interface is the one you most enjoy using.

Thanks for the tips, Ms. Tsai. Maybe it’s just me, but by the time you figure out the best question to ask AI to get a reasonable result for what to make for dinner, you could have already made a meal and have eaten it, too. I would have recommended starting a perpetual stew, for multiple meals, perhaps for a week, or a month, or longer. Meanwhile, I can already see it now (if it’s not already out there) – a class on fashioning queries to get the best out of interacting with AI. Of course, whatever query you eventually come up with, you can already use existing search engines to get your answer. No need to use ChatGPT through OpenAI or Copilot, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Mistral, Llama or whatever is next on the horizon. But again, maybe it’s just me. BTW, I’m more interested in hearing about more AI hallucinations and which AI has the worst of them.
