Robert “Bob” Manuel Vierra, a lifelong resident of San Mateo, California, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, after a courageous battle with dementia.
Born and raised in San Mateo, Bob graduated from San Mateo High School in 1956. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy in 1962, Bob began a successful career as a machinist, a profession he dedicated himself to for more than 30 years.
Bob was known for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and deep love of gardening. He took great pride in tending to his yard, especially his cherished roses, which brought beauty and joy to all who visited his home.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Georgia Vierra; his sister, Vicki O’dell; his children, Robin Costa, Tracy Vierra, Joe Spillane, Debbie Spillane Bohan, and Laura Spillane-Wydick; and his beloved grandchildren, Jackie Powers, Tony Gay Jr., Meghan Bohan, Joshua Costa, James Gay, Matt Bohan, Katie Wydick, and T.J. Spillane.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vickie Vierra; his daughter, Karen Spillane Gay; his sister, Valerie Devincenzi; and his brother, Ronald Vierra.
Bob will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his service to his country, his dedication to his work, and the beauty he created in his garden. His gentle spirit and unwavering love for those around him will be deeply missed. Bob’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were held on June 17, 2026. Final resting place is at Skylawn Memorial Park in Half Moon Bay, California.
