Midori “Dora” Hirabayashi longtime resident of Kalaheo Kauai, and Burlingame California, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, at the age of 109.
Born on July 14, 1916 in Saratoga, California Midori lived a remarkable life that spanned more than a century.
She grew up in Mountain View and got married to Toshiyuki in 1945 in Delta, Colorado. After WWII, they moved to Hawaii to raise their four children.
Through the years, she enjoyed gardening, writing letters to her friends and doing the daily word Jumble and watching generations of loved ones grow and thrive.
Midori was preceded in death by her husband, Toshi and her daughter, Joan Reichard. She is survived by her sons Glen Hirabayashi (Donna), Dean Hirabayashi (Debby), Mark Hirabayashi (Lynne Kuraoka), son in-law Richard Reichard, 6 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was a faithful and devoted member of the Mountain View Japanese Seventh Day Adventist Church.
A memorial for Dora Hirabayashi (Aloha style) will be held on July 19 at 11:30 a.m. at the Mountain View Japanese Seventh Day Adventist Church, 195 N. Rengstorff Ave. Mountain View, CA. 94043.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the church.
