Lorraine Lanam Hayes, 74, from Clovis, California and born in San Francisco, California, went into the arms of her Father in Heaven on February 8, 2026, after a long illness. She was born on August 14, 1951 in Burlingame, California, to the Honorable Judge William Lanam and Natalie Lanam.
After graduating from Mercy High School in Burlingame, Lorraine became an elementary school teacher. She enjoyed being an educator for many years in Fremont Unified School District before retiring.
Lorraine is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, Dave. They made the most of retirement and life by traveling the world over, from Greenland and Russia to Vietnam and Antarctica. Lorraine was overjoyed that her children and grandchildren were able to accompany them on a number of their travels, including to Disney parks, which she especially loved.
In addition to her family, Lorraine enjoyed celebrations, reading, quilting, scrapbooking, puzzles and tutoring her grandchildren, especially in math, in which she had a master’s degree.
She also enjoyed volunteering every week at Kaiser Permanente Fresno Medical Center, where she served faithfully for 15 years. Lorraine also led San Francisco Catholic Engaged Encounter retreats for 30 years alongside Dave.
In addition to Dave, Lorraine is survived by the blended family of four children they raised together, Heather (Darren), Karen (Ray), Dave (Elizabeth) and Glenn (Laura). She also leaves behind eight grandchildren who will miss her, Steven, Benjamin, Rachel, Jackson, Rebecca, Natalie, Sarah and Abigail. She also leaves behind cherished younger siblings, Michael (Susan), Deanne (Steve), Joseph (Donna), Jeannette (Jim) and Renee (Stephanie), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, at Our Lady of Angels, 1721 Hillside Drive, Burlingame. The Mass will be live-streamed: https://www.viewlogies.net/sso/vACXh-5VG?pin=581688. Reception to follow.
