Foster C. Jones Jr., 91, of San Francisco, died Jan. 21, 2018, in Lafayette, California.
Foster is proceeded in death by his only brother; Burk (Hawaii). Foster is survived by daughters Maura (Half Moon Bay) and Meg (San Jose) and sons, Anthony (Sacramento) and Timothy (Lafayette) plus four grandchildren: Osman, Foster, Juliet and Tucker. Native San Franciscan, Balboa High School graduate and San Francisco State graduate. Fulbright scholar recipient (selected by President Kennedy to establish and support Special Ed school’s, Western Australia).
He was actively involved in California Teachers Association (Special Education). He was noted for early mainstreaming his class of Special Ed schooling into Serramonte High School. As director of Day Camp for the Handicapped at Coyote Point over 30 years, he provided love and guidance to handicapped children and adults, counselors-in-training and youth looking for community services. He was a Boy Scout leader in San Mateo County. Foster loved to shop for fresh food at many farmers’ markets. Foster supported the Academy of Sciences, regularly attended the arts with his love for music around San Francisco and at the Conservatory of Music.
In lieu of Flowers, memorial donations may be made to the S. F. Conservatory of Music scholarships, memory of Foster C. Jones, 50 Oak St., S.F. CA 94102.
