A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued an injured hiker over the weekend near Devil’s Slide Trail in Pacifica, according to the maritime service branch.
In a statement on Tuesday, the U.S. Coast Guard Southwest District said watch standers at Coast Guard Sector San Francisco received a request for help around 1 p.m. Sunday from San Mateo County emergency call operators, reporting that a 26-year-old hiker had been hurt inland of the trail.
A helicopter was dispatched to the scene. The crew deployed a rescue swimmer, who helped hoist the injured hiker into the aircraft.
The man was transported to the Devil’s Slide Trail parking lot, where he was transferred to awaiting San Mateo County emergency services personnel for further care.
