Two homeless people were arrested in Redwood City Friday for stealing a car in San Mateo, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
Antonio Contreras, 27, and Ana Contreras, 55, were driving in a 2018 Nissan Sentra with a Washington state license plate when they were pulled over for a traffic enforcement stop Friday morning at Broadway and California Street in Redwood City, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The vehicle yielded without incident and a subsequent DMV check of the license plate revealed the car was listed in the stolen vehicle system as stolen out of San Mateo. The San Mateo Police Department confirmed the vehicle was outstanding and the two suspects were arrested and booked into the San Mateo County main jail for three felonies and one misdemeanor, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
