Caltrain reported delays for trains Thursday morning because of a crash involving a truck on nearby Highway 101 in South San Francisco that knocked a fence onto overhead power lines, according to the transit agency.
The crash was reported around 5 a.m. on southbound Highway 101 involving a big-rig that crashed near South Airport Boulevard, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Caltrain lost power between San Francisco and South San Francisco as a result of the crash. Northbound trains were stopping at Millbrae so riders could transfer to BART until power was restored on the northbound track by about 7:50 a.m., Caltrain spokesperson Dan Lieberman said.
Trains were single tracking through the affected area at reduced speeds. Some southbound lanes of Highway 101 remained blocked through the day because of the crash, which also caused gallons of fuel to spill, according to the CHP.
