SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco police say officers have shot a person who was wielding a weapon from atop a construction site adjacent to a hospital.
California Pacific Medical Center’s St. Luke’s campus was locked down after police responded to reports of an active shooter near the hospital on Wednesday afternoon.
San Francisco Police spokesman Albie Esparaza posted on a verified Twitter account that the gunman had been “neutralized” during an officer-involved shooting.
There was no immediate word on whether any law enforcement officers or people at the hospital had been injured.
The threat created havoc in the city’s Mission District as police blocked off streets and warned people to stay away from the area.
