A 55-year-old woman from San Jose will face charges of felony assault and felony evading and drunk driving from January after a doctor found her competent to stand trial, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.
Cindy Susan Stanley was arrested on Jan. 29 by the Belmont Police Department and placed in a patrol car. While still in the patrol car, Stanley made threats to officers and said, “you’re dead, you’re dead,” according to the District Attorney’s Office.
A correctional officer began to remove the straps the defendant was secure in. The defendant spat on one correctional officer’s face, tried to spit on two other officers, and attempted to bite a fourth correctional officer. She was then brought to the county jail, where she was booked. While her clothing was being removed during booking, the defendant squatted and urinated on a correctional officer’s pants. Doctors concluded on Tuesday Stanley is competent to stand trial. The case is set for a jury trial 8:30 a.m. Dec. 14 and a pretrial conference on Nov. 17, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
