An enforcement stop at Fifth Avenue and Spring Street in Redwood City led to the discovery of 23 pounds of methamphetamine Tuesday night, according to police.
At about 7 p.m., Redwood City police detectives, with assistance from the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force, Santa Clara County Specialized Enforcement Team, and the DEA San Jose Regional Office, made the stop, found the drugs and arrested two people. At the same time, someone driving a white truck backed into a law enforcement vehicle and fled the scene. He drove erratically, and was followed to the 700 block of Barron Avenue where he hid inside a mobile trailer. He was cited and released, according to police.
Later that evening, detectives obtained and executed a search warrant at a residence on the 100 block of Broadway in Redwood City. The search resulted in the seizure of an additional 3 pounds of methamphetamine, according to police.Â
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Redwood City Police Department’s nonemergency line at (650) 780-7100.
