LOS ANGELES -- Sheriff's detectives probing the fatal shooting of actress Lana Clarkson at music producer Phil Spector's home will not be ready to present their case by his scheduled arraignment date, the lead investigator said Tuesday.
"We won't have the report ready by the March 3 arraignment date," said Lt. Dan Rosenberg. "Once we present the case, the district attorney will determine what charges will be filed if any."
Spector, whose "wall of sound" recording technique transformed 1960s pop music, was arrested for investigation of murder after Clarkson's body was found in the foyer of his mansion in suburban Alhambra on Feb. 3. No charge has been filed against him and he is free on $1 million bail.
Rosenberg said the length of the investigation was not unusual in a homicide case.<
