A man drove his Jaguar into a Foster City coffeehouse Sunday morning but did not injure anyone, according to Foster City Fire Battalion Chief Stan Maupin.
The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. at the Foster City Coffeehouse and Bakery, located at the end of a one-story strip mall at 969 Edgewater Blvd., Maupin said.
Maupin said he was still unclear on exactly how the crash occurred, but said somehow the driver "was in front of the store and his car came into the coffee shop."
Two people, the shop's owner and a patron, were inside the coffeehouse when the Jaguar broke through the front entryway, shattering the window glass. Neither was injured, although Maupin described the owner as "startled and shaken up."
He said the crash appears to have been an accident and that the driver, who also escaped unharmed, was not arrested. Maupin called the incident "very lucky in the sense that nobody was hurt."
He estimated by looking at the battered cafe that the crash caused about $30,000 in damage.
