A former teacher at two San Bruno elementary schools found guilty of 17 counts of child molestation for assaulting four students was sentenced to 200 years to life in prison, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
“That’s one of the highest sentences that’s ever been imposed in San Mateo County,” Wagstaffe said.
Jeremy Yeh, 34, of San Mateo, formerly taught first and second grade at El Crystal and Allen elementary schools. Between 2016 and 2022, he sexually abused several students, touching them under and over their clothes, according to the DA’s Office.
Due to California state law, Yeh will get an automatic parole hearing at the 20-year mark, Wagstaffe said.
“We’re grateful to Judge Wendler for looking after public safety and ensuring this sexual predator is locked up,” he said. “We believe it should be for the remainder of his life.”
“We are here to hold the school responsible for their actions and inactions, particularly the fact that they had a report of abuse by Mr. Yeh, and ignored that, which allowed Mr. Yeh to continue to be employed at that school and go on to abuse several other girls,” attorney Bobby Thompson, representing one of the victims, said at a press conference March 1.
