A man was rescued Thursday morning after his vehicle went over a cliff in Pacifica and landed about 200 yards below, authorities said.
Crews responded at 7:46 a.m. to the area of Monterey Avenue and Manor Drive, where they discovered a car that had gone off the edge and down the cliffside, according to the North County Fire Authority.
Firefighters and paramedics conducted a high-angle rope rescue and made contact with the man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The man was safely hoisted from the base of the cliff by helicopter and transferred to waiting paramedics. He was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.
No injuries were reported among emergency personnel or other civilians. The rescue operation lasted about 90 minutes.
The cause of the crash is under further investigation.
