The case against Ron Galatolo — the embattled former San Mateo County Community College District chancellor facing 23 felony counts — should begin opening arguments around Oct. 16, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
Galatolo is accused of directing district construction project contracts to people from whom he received valuable gifts and shared financial interests, allegedly misreporting tax information and allegedly trying to get the district to pay for his lawyer’s fees, according to the DA’s office. He maintains he has done nothing wrong.
Hearings on trial motions in front of a judge will begin Sept. 29, with a goal to begin jury selection Oct. 3 and begin evidence and opening statements on Oct. 16, Wagstaffe said. The DA’s Office is estimating the case will conclude Dec. 12, if not sooner.
