Burlingame is getting two new restaurants downtown — Sweetgreen, a casual salad spot, and Local Kitchens, which offers a wide variety of cuisines including pizza, wings, Mexican food and salad.
The new restaurants are situated at 235 Lorton Ave. and 225 Lorton Ave., respectively, and are both a part of the new 220 Park development 7,562 square feet of new restaurant and retail space.
Sweetgreen is currently working on final tenant improvements and is set to open next week at the earliest, Mayor Peter Stevenson said. Local Kitchens is set to open later, at a date to be determined.
Burlingame is also anticipating a new, fine dining restaurant in the historic post office, which is part of the 220 Park development. Bacchus Management Group — known for high-end dining establishments in the Bay Area like The Village Pub in Woodside and Selby’s in Atherton — signed a 10-year lease at the location in 2023.
“It’s a great addition to the options for residents and visitors to Burlingame in terms of the restaurants,” Stevenson said. “When you think about Sweetgreen and Local Kitchens, it’s more of an environment for frequent meals, frequent patronage. Obviously Bacchus is known around the Bay Area for fine dining.”
Bacchus is expected to open the post office location in two phases, Stevenson said, first the indoor area and then the patio, which opens onto the new town square.
