Two men were arrested on several felony assault charges after they stabbed a man around 20 times outside a San Bruno bar Saturday afternoon after the victim asked that they stop shooting a group of people with an orbeez gel gun, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
The 36-year-old victim had his spleen removed and is now in a medically-induced coma, according to prosecutors.
At about 3:45 p.m., the men, Marvin Dismuke, 19, and Francis Morato, 20, both of San Francisco, allegedly were shooting patrons outside Newell’s Bar on San Mateo Avenue with an orbeez gel gun, when the victim asked that they stop. After an altercation, Dismuke allegedly stabbed the victim as Morato allegedly repeatedly kicked and punched him in the head while in the fetal position, according to prosecutors.
Police arrested both defendants at the scene of the crime where they refused to stop as ordered. Dismuke was covered in blood at the time of the arrest, the District Attorney’s Office said.
Dismuke is charged with two felonies — assault with a deadly weapon and causing serious bodily injury — and misdemeanor resisting arrest. Morato is charged with two felonies, causing serious bodily injury and general felony assault. Both defendants pleaded not guilty, prosecutors said.
A preliminary hearing was set for 9 a.m. Nov. 14.
