The Foster City Rotary Club donated over 350 dictionaries for the third consecutive year to all third graders at Audubon, Brewer Island, and Foster City elementary schools. Over 25 Rotarians went into the 16 third grade classes on Thursday, Dec. 10 and Friday, Dec. 11 at the three schools and presented the students with a quality dictionary. The Rotarians gave a brief description of the Rotary Club activities worldwide and specifically what our club contributes to the community to help many different organizations and individuals, then gave out the dictionaries and went over various uses of the dictionaries. Club President Linda Grant, and Dictionary Project Chair Richard Mozzini, were thrilled at the positive responses we received from the students.
The Foster City Rotary Club’s goal is to help increase literacy skills and help increase STAR California Standard Test(CST) scores by having the teachers incorporate dictionary skills into their lesson plans.
