Movie Review: In ‘Sentimental Value,’ an achingly lovely portrait of artists and family
Stellan Skarsgård and Renate Reinsve play an estranged father and daughter in Joachim Trier's “Sentimental Value.” The Cannes Grand Prix winner is about family, the arts and filmmaking, as Skarsgård's character attempts to mine his own family history to connect with his daughter and make a career comeback. In her review for The Associated Press, film writer Lindsey Bahr writes that “Trier and his longtime cowriter Eskil Vogt have deftly crafted a deeply humane and relatable story that feels whole and satisfying and cinematic without resorting to trite and tidy resolutions and redemptions.” Rated R, “Sentimental Value” is in theaters Friday.

Music Review: Rosalía's 'Lux' is unlike anything in mainstream music — thank God
NEW YORK (AP) — Rosalía's “Lux” arrives three years after “Motomami” cemented her unique position as a genre-agnostic international talent. On that album, she combined flamenco with reggaeton, bachata, future-tech and Björk-indebted ballads. Her fourth studio album “Lux” is out Friday and is totally different. It is an avant-garde experiment in classical and orchestral music performed in 13 languages, Associated Press Music Writer Maria Sherman writes in her review. It is ambitious and grand. It is also a welcomed alternative to the current pop landscape. It is also a demanding collection meant for keen listeners.
