Not only did the Cougars picked up their first point in Peninsula Athletic League Ocean Division play with the tie, they also hurt the Knights’ chances of winning a division title.
Half Moon Bay had lost 10 straight to open PAL Ocean Division, but a second-half, penalty-kick goal off the foot of Morgan Day tied the game at one for the Cougars and they held on for the one point in the standings.
Hillsdale, meanwhile, falls to 6-4-1 in league play, giving the Knights 19 points, leaving them eight points behind first-place Sequoia (9-2, 27 points).
