The first half of South City’s Central Coast Section Division V playoff opener was overshadowed by a medical emergency. In the second half, the No. 1-seed Warriors channeled their shock into quite a finish for a 28-7 victory over No. 8 Gunderson-San Jose.

South City head coach Kolone Pua departed Friday night’s postseason opener at Clifford Field due to a medical emergency. Pua, who spoke with the Daily Journal via telephone following the game, said he experienced dizzy spells and felt a sudden pain shoot down his back while on the sideline during the first half.
