The Skyline Trojans (5-2 overall) finished off a three-game sweep of visiting Shasta (2-6), taking both games of a doubleheader Saturday in San Bruno.
Sophomore reliever Derek Flowers (Burlingame) worked in both games, earning the win in the opener in the Trojans’ 9-7 victory. The left-hander then close out the nightcap for the save in a 11-9 Skyline win.
Through the Trojans’ seven games this season, Flowers has appeared in five, posting a 1-0 record with three saves.
In Game 1, Saturday, Skyline trailed by scores of 6-2 and 7-5 in the late innings, but rallied for three in the seventh and three more in the eighth. In the eighth, Kaleb Keelan (Burlingame) singled home the tying run. Leo Espinoza (Capuchino) followed with a two-run double that proved to be the game-winner.
In Game 2, Skyline enjoyed another comeback. Down 5-0, the Trojans scored two in the fifth, one in the sixth and five in the seventh to take the lead. Max Jenkins (Half Moon Bay) gave the Trojans the lead with a two-run single.
Matt O’Mahoney delivered a two-run single in the eighth for key insurance runs.
