Terra Nova 61, Eastside College Prep 23
The Tigers (1-0) struck quite a balance on offense in their season opener, as four players scored in double figures in the road victory at the cozy confines of Eastside College Prep (1-1). Sophomore point guard Reese Kelley led the way in her varsity debut, scoring a game-high 19 points while shooting 9 of 15 from the field.
Senior post Lilyanna Carpenter recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, along with two blocked shots, junior Gabbi Dyogi netted 13 points, and senior Mariyah Mahasin added 10.
Kelley added seven steals, three assists and five rebounds. Dyogi had five steals, eight rebounds and three assists. Terra Nova totaled 18 steals as a team.
It is the third straight year the Tigers have opened the season against Eastside Prep. Terra Nova is 3-0 in those games, and have won four straight season openers going back to 2021.
Menlo School 53, Palo Alto 23
The defending two-time CCS Division IV champion Lady Knights (1-0) opened the 2024-25 season on a 20-5 first-quarter run and never looked back at home against Palo Alto (0-1).
Four-year varsity standout Ruiqi Liu led the way with 19 points and six rebounds, both team-highs. Senior guard Karen Xin knocked down 2 of 2 3-pointers and added 16 points to go with four steals and three assists.
In other action ...
Aragon (1-1) earned its first win 72-30 at home over Oceana (0-1).
Capuchino (1-1) fell 33-30 at home to Skyline-Oakland (3-1).
Woodside (2-0) won its second straight in a 62-30 win at home over Yerba Buena (0-1).

Washington-SF 80, Capuchino 60
Senior forward Dominic Vanden Berghe recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, but it was not enough as the Mustangs (0-1) fell in their season opener at home against Washington-SF (1-0).
Washington senior Korey Abantao enjoyed a big night, totaling 23 points, including four made 3s, with six rebounds, six assists and four steals, all team-highs.
Four different Eagles scored in double figures with junior Bradley Matsubayashi totaling 17, senior Jonah Chiu 12, and freshman Will Peterson 10.
Junior guard Matthew Alas added eight points for Cap.
Woodside 78, Sequoia 49
The Wildcats (2-0) earned their second straight win in a crosstown matchup at home against Sequoia (0-1). Woodside head coach Ramon Meacham had nine different players put the ball in the bucket, led by junior Luke Grech and senior Caden Gonzalez, who totaled 21 points apiece.
Sequoia junior Nick Henderson led all scorers with 23 points. Woodside’s Burak Akkaya added 13 points.
In other action ...
Crystal (0-1) fell 74-68 in its season opener at St. Francis-Watsonville (3-0).
Girls’ soccer
Hillsdale (2-0) rallied for a 1-0 win at home over San Mateo (0-1).
Capuchino (0-0-1) and El Camino (0-0-1) played to a 1-1 draw in South San Francisco.
Carlmont (1-0) scored in the first half to earn a 1-0 win on its home pitch over Notre Dame-Belmont (0-1).
