Burlingame 63, San Mateo 49
Led by 6-5 sophomore Lucca Maher, the Panthers (8-3) rolled to the non-league home win over archrival San Mateo (7-5) to close out a Saturday night quad. Maher shot 64% from the field, including two of Burlingame’s nine 3-pointers, while totaling 26 points and a season-high eight rebounds. Junior forward Max Robenault paced Burlingame with three 3s en route to scoring 13 points.
The Panthers now ride a three-game winning streak into Wednesday’s PAL Bay Division opener at Carlmont. San Mateo opens its PAL Ocean Division slate Wednesday at home against Mills.
Lowell 62, Capuchino 57
Senior forward Christian Rodriguez’s double-double wasn’t enough as the Mustangs (4-7) dropped a thriller at Lowell-SF (8-7). Cap was trailing 31-22 at the half before outscoring Lowell 21-16 in the third quarter to draw close.
Rodriguez totaled 17 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. Senior Matthew Alas added 16 points, freshman Faiva Afeaki had 10, junior Isaiah Pogue recorded seven assists, and junior JJ Gardner had five steals.
Serra 72, Half Moon Bay 57
The Padres (8-2) trailed 39-35 early in the second half, but responded with a 10-0 run to take the lead for good at Half Moon Bay (5-6). Senior Gio Garduno-Martin paced the Cougars with19 points, including five 3-pointers, while senior Owen Perez scored 11 points.
In other action ...
Terra Nova (6-5) overcame an eight-point deficit after one quarter of play to win 56-42 at Pinewood (8-2) in the final non-league preseason game prior to PAL Ocean Division play opens Monday. The Tigers have now won three of their last four.
Woodside (3-7) traveled to a Gilroy for a 59-35 loss to a Christopher team (8-3) that has now won five straight.

Girls’ basketball
San Mateo 46, Burlingame 24
The Bearcats (10-2) rode their twin towers to win No. 10 of the season, as juniors Violet MacAvoy and Kaitlyn Schuh combined to outscore rival Burlingame (4-5) by themselves. Schuh scored a game-high 14 points, while MacAvoy added 13. The Panthers were led by senior Haleh Ansari’s seven points.
Summit Shasta 50, El Camino 39
The Black Bears (5-4) snapped a two-game skid, using a strong fourth quarter at El Camino (3-8). The Lady Colts used a second-quarter swing to take a 25-19 lead into the half, and took a one-point lead into the fourth before Summit Shasta went on a 19-6 run over the final eight minutes.
Shasta’s freshman-heavy roster shined, paced by Daina Randall’s double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds, both career-highs, along with the freshman’s four steals. Freshman Jordin Lee added 15 points and four assists.

Woodside (4-3) got back in the win column with a 43-30 home victory over Hill-San Jose (1-10).
Terra Nova (3-3) was trounced 48-28 at Washington-SF (3-6).
South City (7-5) dropped its fourth straight 43-27 at home against unbeaten Urban-SF (12-0).
Mercy-Burlingame (6-3) won its fifth straight 69-9 at Oceana (0-5).
