Riordan and Serra will go 1-2 in the Central Coast Section football postseason.
With brackets announced Sunday, the Serra Padres earned the No. 2 seed in the CCS Open/Division I tournament. West Catholic Athletic League champion Riordan drew the No. 1 seed. The two WCAL frontrunners will play on the same side of the bracket. Serra will host No. 7 Mitty in this Saturday’s opener at 1 p.m. Riordan will host concurrently Saturday against No. 8 Salinas.
No. 3 Los Gatos will host No. 6 St. Francis, and No. 4 Palma hosts No. 5 Soquel in a pair of Friday games on the other side of the Open/Division I bracket.
In the Division II tournament, Menlo drew the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 King’s Academy either Friday or Saturday. Start time and venue are yet to be announced. St. Ignatius earned the No. 1 seed in Division II, while Sacred Heart Cathedral in seeded No. 2.
In Division III, half of the eight-team bracket is out of the PAL, including an intriguing in-county matchup featuring No. 1 Woodside hosting No. 8 San Mateo at Bradley Field, Friday, at 7 p.m. Menlo-Atherton, the No. 3 seed, will host No. 6 Stevenson-Pebble Beach. No. 7 Sacred Heart Prep will travel to No. 2 Carmel, Friday, for a 7 p.m. start.
In Division IV, another in-county showdown is in the spotlight, with No. 4 Burlingame hosting No. 5 Half Moon Bay, Friday, at 7 p.m.
Division V will stoke a neighboring city rivalry between Pacifica and South San Francisco, as No. 3 Terra Nova hosts No. 6 South City, Friday, at 7 p.m. On the other side of the bracket, No. 4 Jefferson will host No. 5 Pioneer-San Jose, Friday, at 7 p.m.
