Editor,

The reason the jury verdict against Trump hasn’t swayed many is that few voters understand what crime was committed.

As I understand it, the felony is pursuing a pattern of behavior -- individual components of which are generally misdemeanors >>by themselves<< -- in furtherance of committing a felony. In this case, election fraud. The felony being enabled does not have to be charged in order to elevate the misdemeanors to felonies. Which is what happened in this case. Personally, the odds that a Stanford professor knows more about NY law than Bragg and all the judges that were involved in the case is pretty low (although the professor is entitled to his opinion, of course). Will the theory of the charges hold up? That's what appeals are for. However, as a matter of law He Who Shall Not Be Named is, today, a convicted felon. Rejecting that is rejecting objective reality (and thus potentially a sign of delusional thinking). If the conviction is overturned on appeal, he'll no longer be a felon (at least as regards this particular case) and that, too, will then be reality.

Perhaps it escaped you, Mark, that the DOJ, refused to charge Trump with election fraud as there was apparently not a basis for it. In Bragg's, and perhaps your, twisted legal theory, it is amazing to see that a local yokel can prosecute an alleged federal crime under a State law which is outside of his jurisdiction. The whole point of this trial was to give Trump a black eye and Biden will hope that it will cause Trump to lose votes. Any other legal scholar knows that this sham case will be overturned in the appeals process. The Democrats behind this are sick puppies. Are they screaming the loudest that nobody is above the law?

I was aware of that, thanx. It’s also likely irrelevant. Remember, we live under federalism, so state law and federal law do not always have to ar

To arrive at the same conclusion. As to giving HWSNBN a black eye, if so, it was a waste of time. Because he punches himself in the face just about every day. Sometimes more than once in the same day. You’d think he’d learn not to do that, but I guess he’s not enough of a stable genius (whatever that is).

Dirk van Ulden

Come on Mark - you can do better than that. Most of what is happening is reported and controlled by the historically leftist media. Even Eisenhower had to deal with it in the 1950s. The elections in November will ultimately provide the answer. Let's keep it civil.

Willful ignorance of treasonous Biden, his crime family, and Biden’s America Last policies is bliss, eh, markolbert? Seems Trump’s convictions is giving Trump more street cred and is increasing his voter base. Vote for Trump to Take America Back.

Yet, Mr. Kahl, twelve members of the jury, after weeks of testimony, found him guilty of thirty-four counts. Interesting.

Dirk van Ulden

One of the few places in the world where a DA can turn a single misdemeanor into 34 felonies. The same DA who just dismissed all charges against the gangsters who destroyed, for the world to see on tv, a Columbia University building. Rule of Law, don't make me laugh!

Always good to see people expressing opinions without having access to all the facts on the ground. Not that I'm claiming to know why Bragg did what he did. But he was in a much more informed position to make the choice than anyone here. Besides, if the good people of NY don't like his decisions, they'll remove him from office.

Corruption doesn't exist...right Marky?

Terence Y

Great question, Mr. Kahl. Nobody knows. But don’t be surprised that since Dems opened up the lawfare route against President Trump, imagine when Republicans begin doing the same thing to Dems, and not just for presidential candidates... Turnabout is fair play.

Dirk van Ulden

Terence - I disagree. The Republicans must take the high road.

Tafhdyd

Dirk,

Thanks for the laugh. I needed that.

Republicans take the high road is the funniest post of the month. The only high road they know is to obstruct anything that may help America while they help their ultra rich cronies get richer at the expense of the poor and middle class.

Dirk van Ulden

Taffy - the point that I am trying to make is that there should be no retribution or a lawfare continuation. But as a severely infected TDS victim, you have lost your judgment some time ago.

Tafhdyd

Dirk,

I understand what you pint is so maybe you can tell us why Trump's main campaign pitch is to get retribution for those that he thinks have done him wrong. He complains about the Dems weaponizing the DOJ and then says it is one of the first things he will do to go after those he doesn't like. Like I said before, the Republicans haven't taken the high road in more than 20 years. They spend all their time trying to get something on there Dems just to throw red meat to the MAGA crowd rather than legislative work they were elected to do.

Tafhdyd

Sorry, ...what your point is...not pint...big fingers, little keyboard.

Terence Y

Actually, Taffy, your buddy Nobama increased the wealth disparity, which means he helped his ultra rich cronies get richer at the expense of the poor and middle class. And your buddy, treasonous Biden is making everyone poorer due to his America Last policies. At least do a little homework before you try to make a point, else you end up being laughed at.
