Editor,

I hate being in a position of telling citizens of the United States that truth matters. Fox News paid just under 3/4 of a billion dollars to enable it to continue to not tell the truth. Harvard University has succumbed to student pressure (that still counts) to stay with the truth. From history, there is a saying that the only thing that permits evil to prevail is for good people to remain silent. Under capitalist economic pressures that is proving to be too true.

Perhaps if Dems had been more truthful about Biden mental condition, they'd of nominated a good candidate instead of appointing one and Tump wouldn't be in office.

Good morning, Tasha

Thanks for taking the time to write an LTE. Such opinion pieces can lead to healthy conversations from different points of view.

I have posted in these pages many times that Donald Trump exaggerates, misstates, and sometimes just makes things up. If you want to call that lying instead… I’m OK with that. If we can agree purposeful exaggeration, misstatement, and fabrication are untruthful, how would you answer the reader who mentioned in this thread several untruths promoted by the political left?

However, something else in your letter caught my eye.

Your notion that evil is being thrust upon us by capitalism. Free market economies have done so much more to lift people out of poverty than state controlled economies. Progressives pushing a far left economic agenda are a greater danger to our way of life. What has happened with a progressive supermajority controlling our state legislature? Nearly one-third of Californians live at or near the poverty level, and California ranks No. 1 in homelessness. Progressives are bringing the evil, not capitalists. In my view, AOC, Bernie, et al. are on a Long March to replicate the California model across the country. Let’s not forget what leftist radical Tim Walz said, “One person’s socialism is another person’s neighborliness.”

You wrote that we cannot be the country that condones concentration camps. On that point, you and I are in complete agreement. One question: Which president in our history created concentration camps with an executive order? (Hint: He was a progressive.)

Exactly, for example STOP giving away handouts like FREE ON-STREET PARKING.

Why would council members support car-socialism that only creates more problems. Problems that capitalism had fixed 100 years ago already.

If someone can afford 4+ cars, they can also afford to store them on their own behalf.

If you let Capitalism handle this the following things would happen:

- people would be put in charge of their own storage needs

- they might clean out their garages and put that in storage

- they might employ companies to remove old stuff even sell it

- they might get rid of clunkers and damaged cars (removing hazards and avoiding oil spills)

- they might sell cars that aren't needed anymore (saving in insurance and registration)

- they might have to pay for storage of cars

and most importantly some old widow with little money and no car could rent out her driveway or garage to someone with money for $100 per month with Neighbor.com or other services.

Now our streets would be free to provide services and transportation again. Garbage collection and deliveries can be done faster and cheaper. Street cleaning and Emergency Response Times would improve.

Hi Ray. Just want to note quickly that “Free market economies have done so much more to lift people out of poverty than state controlled economies.” was what they taught us when we were growing up, but that may have changed since then. I think Communist China may currently hold the record for pulling the most people out of poverty in a given time - at least that is what I recall reading in the “fake news.” Undoubtedly though, one could go down a rabbit hole defining “poverty” and “wealth” to get whatever answer was convenient to one’s partisan side.

Comparing poverty rates for different countries can be challenging. There are variables.

For 2022, MacroTrends reported that 17% of the population in China lived under $5.50 per day. China ranks No. 26 on a list of 70 countries compared by MacroTrends. The US ranked No. 56 with only 1% of our population living under $5.50 per day. When you look at the top 20 countries on MacroTrends’ list, the rate for persons living under $5.50 per day ranged from about 30% up to 95%. You’ll find socialistic countries and countries with single party rule dominating the top twenty. BTW… Rosie O’Donnell now lives in Ireland. The Emerald Isle ranks No. 66 on the list with a rate of .3%. While I would like to visit Dublin, I would not want to live there permanently. I have visited Beijing, and I definitely don’t want to live there. China’s state controlled economy may have reduced China’s poverty rate… good for them. However, the CCP controls much more than just the Chinese economy. It controls Chinese citizens. Are single-party progressives in California ultimately seeking control our economy and more?

Thank you Tasha - agree with you 100%. As does most of the country, as you point out.

Dirk van Ulden

Well Tasha - perhaps your party could have selected a better candidate for the presidency. Many of the ails that you list were fomented by the Biden gang and now you blame Trump for Biden's amateurism. You have another chance the next time we have elections. Those on the Trump side never had a chance to list the outrageous policies that Biden imposed as we were silenced by the compromised press.

Jorg

Like Obama, Biden left a very healthy economy for Trump, - which he wasted no time to destroy, in addition to tripling our debt! Will Republicans ever learn? I guess not ...

Thanks for another excerpt from the Democrat playbook, Ms. Levinson, but I must ask… Where is your outrage for Democrats who pushed the Russian Collusion hoax, the Charlottesville hoax, the so-called insurrection that never was, claiming the Hunter Biden laptop wasn’t real, and the king of them all, hiding the mental failings of treasonous Biden? Apparently “truth” doesn’t matter when it highlights the failings of the Democrat party. Thanks to voters, we voted for our (yes, our) great President Trump to save us from Democrats turning our country to be the equivalent of Nazi Germany. Trump 2028.

Jorg

Yes indeed, Tasha, Truth Matters, - but apparently not for Trump and The Fox Lie Channel!
