Ted Lempert has made an issue of his adherence to campaign finance laws by sticking to the $637,000 spending limit for his campaign for state Senate. Yet close to $300,000 has come in on his behalf in independent expenditures which have curious connections to his campaign.
A large portion of those donations have come from John Walton, director of Wal-Mart, and Donald Fisher, founder of the Gap, who each have donated $31,250 to Ted's campaign, ten times the legal limit if they would have donated to his campaign directly. Both men serve on the executive board for EdVoice, the lobbyist firm created by Ted Lempert.
I want our next senator to be someone who stays true to his word and does not trick the public.
