Editor,

Twice in the last two weeks, I have been witness to elected officials in San Mateo and now Foster City implying the public is using artificial intelligence to send form letters to elected leaders. What an insult to the taxpayer. Yes, it is true, that we are signing petitions and writing letters that are preform, however, “we” the taxpayers are also providing our personal data and choosing to click on the “submit” button. I was shocked to receive a response from a sitting councilmember in Foster City regarding the 101/92 widening project, implying I am not “real” and “might be AI.” ... I guess these people don’t want to get reelected.

Interesting LTE, Ms. Cwirko-Godycki. Was your response from this FC councilmember a form letter and possibly not “real” and “might be AI”? If the public is using AI to send letters, I don’t see why would anyone be offended? I’d venture to say AI has already been used to submit LTEs to this site since we’ve seen much copying/pasting of the same Dem playbook narratives.

Let me guess, it's the guy with the assignment to the "C/CAG Congestion Management and Environmental Quality (CMEQ)" who doesn't want to be reminded that more lanes ALWAYS lead to more traffic just as eating more bad food always leads to obesity? Isn't he also sitting on the Peninsula Clean Energy Board - an organization promoting Teslas and helping to "greenwash" their carbon emissions?

Btw. both organizations (C/CAG and PCE) are heavy users of AI when it comes to their marketing packages. Or maybe they just employ PR teams that sound that way.

Before the election every council member will tell you how they want to hear from the residents. As soon as they take office they all become little dictators themselves and for the next four years voters are dead to them.
