Editor,

That’s Donald Trump’s advice for victims of the horrible rainstorm in Texas.

I have a neighbor who claims that praying really works. As conclusive evidence, she says that whenever she has to fly somewhere, she prays (like Hell?), and no plane she has ever been in with her prayers, has fallen down. What more would it take to convince us non-praying folks?

Dirk van Ulden

Jorg - look it up, "Patton's Prayer". It could have been a coincident, but his distributed prayer card to all members of the Third Army during the Battle of the Bulge in WWII may have helped them win. Many swore (no pun intended) by the prayer and wore the card until they were discharged. It was a prized possession for thousands of WWII veterans.

Dirk: The only possible impact would be inside the non-freethinking soldiers’ heads. No other possible impact.

Dirk van Ulden

Jorg - those soldiers were apparently in want of something to hang onto. Some had rosaries, some had a rabbit foot and others pictures of their loved ones. If you faced death, anything that can calm you down, and provides courage to face reality, should be appreciated. To dismiss them as non-freethinking is very unkind, to say the least. Besides, as a military person, especially in combat, one follows orders, without thought.

Dirk: Your native country, The Netherlands, is among the most advanced, non-religious and freethinking countries in the world, right up there with the Scandinavian countries. If someone asks a native Scandinavian if he or she believes in any gods, you are likely to be laughed at. So, what happened to you?

Great Jorg! - it has also devolved into a drug mecca, an onslaught of child molestation, femicide, sarcasm, and general superficiality. Yet, they want to celebrate Christmas and Easter, but do not know the original meaning of these holidays. If you call that progress, I call it nihilism. The Netherlands is my native country but I thank God on my bare knees everyday that I moved here. The Dutch, like most Scandinavians, do not stand for anything, except hedonism and materialism. Can you at least explain why Islam is making such inroads over there? It is filling a need that appears dormant.

Jorg

Dirk: So, which one(s) of the roughly 12000 fantasy god figures dreamed up by mankind through the ages, do you sacrifice your knees for? I wouldn’t even do it for my own Nordic gods, Tor and Odin, despite how responsible those 2 are for thunder and lightning.

Jorg

Dirk: Perhaps the Dutch authorities have been too naïve, like so many other countries not realizing what a threat the Muslim movement can be. The Muslim strategy seems to be to reproduce faster than the natives, and thus with time, becoming an overwhelming force. Yet, The Netherlands, along with the Scandinavian countries, are the best educated and the natives the least infested with religion, - something we both should be proud of.

And, BTW, “Christmas” is an English misnomer, since the original, the equivalent of Yuletide, had absolutely, nothing to do with religious superstition. Scandinavia still celebrates the original Yuletide.

If you dont want to pray dont.

Jorg

willallen: "Don't want to"? I don't see the point in praying to something non-existent, - for what?.

Thanks for your letter, Mr. Aadahl, but if you still don’t understand the concepts of the Second Amendment or the Electoral College, why would we think you understand God? Perhaps you don’t realize it but maybe God is using you as a vessel to teach others in how to lose credibility and influence by being unconvincing and thinking you know better than everyone else. BTW, who do you think will roll over first for a promise of immunity, Clapper or Brennan or Comey or Hillary? Or someone else? Have a blessed and Trump-tastic day!

Jorg

Gee, Terence YEE: Have you already forgotten how carefully I explained both the EC and the 2nd Amendment for you? You seemed to understand it then, but you keep losing it?
