As of Oct. 12, 2024, FEMA has updated the map and most of North Central is no longer in the flood zone. The city of San Mateo will soon be sending the documentation to residents in North Central.
Residents can contact their insurance companies. You can call your insurance companies to eliminate this yearly flood expense.
Unfortunately, there are a few, who still remain in the flood zone, but this number is very few.
Craig Wiesner's column today talks about public service and the many ways people in our county can step up. Thank you for being an advocate for your neighborhood and stepping up to let City Hall hear your neighbors' voices through your advocacy.
As anna kuhre says, “This is very good news.” But… I have to wonder whether you’re willing to place your trust in the FEMA that has failed victims of past disasters, and even worse in recent disasters, and who have made this determination that most of North Central is no longer in a flood zone. Imagine if a flood happens and you’ve canceled flood insurance. Can you bear the costs? A recommendation… If you plan on canceling, you may want to wait until after our upcoming rainy season. Plus, in the future, flood insurance may potentially no longer be as expensive since it is no longer mandatory. Use your intuition and best guess before taking a catastrophic, and financial, hit.
