Newsom’s overestimate of budget surpluses in the 2022-23 budget has been in the Democrats’ play book for a long time to raise spending as an excuse to raise taxes. While the Feds can print money, the state has to borrow it and the interest on those borrowings keeps eroding the spending needed for schools, etc. Taxing the “rich” just drives most of the people who pay our taxes to other states.

Thanks for your letter, Mr. Kahl. Unfortunately, the odds of a return to a two-party system in California will not likely occur as long as folks continue electing Dems into office. I’d like to see a change but I expect more and more people will leave the state and pay their state taxes, if any, to better managed and fiscally responsible states. Either that or they’ll start structuring their salaries the Ohtani way and not receive their total compensation until they’ve potentially left California.

Well, I think common sense might be knocking on the door. The democrats failures are going to turn some heads and votes. Wild fires that were democrat made, illegal immigrant crime that is democrat made, homelessness that is democrat made and then democrats always seem to throw gas on these fires and blame republicans. I think we are reaching a time in which these democrat failures will be their undoing and the tide will turn

Well said, Not So Common. I believe the tide is already turning, beginning with the re-election of President Trump. How about those 200 executive actions? I’m looking forward to cutoff of public funds for the idiocy of California claiming to be a sanctuary state. With necessary prosecutions of folks that inhibit federal deportation. I’m also looking forward to cutoff of public funds for any people who allow biological males to insert themselves into biological female sports teams. I, and hopefully many others, will do their civic duty and report entities that “resist” these executive orders. The treasonous Biden-Harris nightmare is over and out. Now we need treasonous so-called California leaders to be out. See something, say something. Hopefully, the feds are listening.
