In what began as a bill to eliminate gun shows in the San Francisco area Senate Bill 281 introduced by state Sen. Scott Weiner was quietly rewritten to include assigning a committee to facilitate the demolition of the Cow Palace in Daly City to turn it over to developers. If not for quick action by some local citizens, after word got out, this bill would have been passed with hardly any notice of the public.
Wording has been changed again for considerations of saving the landmark if efforts are made by citizens like you to help save this great part of history that today usefully serves the public by hosting shows like the Grand National Livestock show and Rodeo, and the Dickens Christmas Fair along with numerous local shows. Along with the long history of Cow Palace, there are many other features of the facility. It is the only covered stadium in San Francisco. With its complex of attached and out buildings it can have two shows running simultaneously.
It is the only venue in San Francisco that is easily accessible by public transportation from the city and the San Francisco Peninsula, along with having ample onsite parking. Don’t let this great landmark be destroyed. To help, please join your fellow citizens by going to: savethecowpalace.com.
