Editor,

San Mateo County Transit District CEO Jim Hartnett was given a performance bonus of $50,000, bringing his compensation for the year to $543,792, much higher than that of his colleagues in comparable positions. I have some questions.

Please just remember this the next time the San Mateo Transportation District wants to increase your taxes? Just vote No. One day voters will get what these agencies are doing to our budgets.

Once more free advice from "the expert".

I'm a public asset

You said I'm a public asset..LOL, if you drop the 'et' from asset you'd be right on.

Lloyd- I am very easy to find, how about saying that to my face.

Oh please Christopher.

The bigger they are the harder they fall. I applaud every time "JME" replies after any one of your way-rightish-posts. He has you pegged to a tee.

I wasn't the one who said about oneself that they were an asset.

Are you still in your mid life crisis where you settle everything via fisticuffs. LOL, I would say it directly to your face.

I believe Mr. Partned is on to something. It am still searching for the CEO's job description and have yet to find any performance metrics that would justify a performance bonus. Wouldn't there be simple metrics such as operating within a budget, having the buses show up on time, maintain a certain ridership satisfaction level, etc.? The CEO doesn't seem to be held to any reasonable, substantive performance standards. I have gotten bonuses in my time but they were always based on exceeding tangible expectations that my organization had set. I don't see that anywhere addressed. So, perhaps a diligent Daily Journal reporter can find our why he was given a $50K bonus on top of an already very generous compensation package.
