A local restaurant owner decides to invoke his First Amendment rights of Free Speech, by not serving people who wear MAGA hats in his restaurant. So what? Discussion over. Instead, there are letter writers who write disrespectful and sarcastic comments, including silly song verses, a sarcastic menu of entrees and crazy theories that the owner is just trying to cause a controversy. All of this just makes the letter writers look foolish and ignorant. Then there are people who send threatening emails to the owner and even people who post false negative comments about the restaurant, just to hurt the owner. These people are cowards and criminals. This just makes those people look self-righteous, self-indulgent and hypocritical. For some reason, the people on the right think that the First Amendment only applies to them and no one else. I bet none of these hypocrites have ever eaten at this restaurant. I, myself, have never even heard of it.
I wish I could blame all of this divisiveness and ignorance on Trump, but, I can’t. The Russians and Trump were clever enough to tap into this type of ignorance, self-righteous, self-indulgence and political divide in America. The complaining letter writers clearly demonstrated this fact. How pathetic!
Hey Mike- there are some store owners in the south who are going to love your letter. They will be able to discriminate again based on ones race and they could not agree more with your letter. They are very happy you agree with them that it is their first amendment right to discriminate against people in their community.
Refusing service is not necessarily discrimination {Potential dangerous, violent drunks, underage, boisterous, smoking, bringing unwanted animals, demanding special treatment, using defamatory language, improper dress codes, any bad behavior to name but a few instances.)
Mr. Oberg, so let me get this straight, you're writing a letter complaining about other letter writers complaining? And you're calling them pathetic? Pot, Kettle. Kettle, Pot. In the owner's case, sure, he can invoke his right to free speech, as long as he doesn't act on them. Fortunately for him, he quickly apologized, else I could potentially see a few lawsuits in his future should he try to act on his TDS rant. And in that same vein, all letter writers are also free to invoke their rights to free speech, whether you like what they write, or not.
This owner made the national news. Here's a clip "An award-winning cookbook author and San Francisco restaurant owner received a lot of negative attention after he declared on Twitter that he will refuse service to anyone wearing a red Make America Great Again baseball cap.
Several outlets reported on J. Kenji López-Alt’s Sunday tweet that stated, “If you come to my restaurant wearing a MAGA cap, you aren’t getting served, same as if you come in wearing a swastika, white hood, or any other symbol of intolerance and hate.”
The post had more than 2,100 likes from his followers, but López-Alt later deleted the tweet after admitting that the business has received negative emails and comments from diners.
López-Alt later tweeted an apology to his staff and partners for his disrespectful and reckless” public statement."

Ya- but wearing a red baseball hat ain't one of them. Nice try.
