Mike Caggiano states in his Nov. 11 letter that his “Bible is caught in the washer and is spinning around” concerning the U.S. role in Gaza. While he also speaks about Nigeria and Ukraine, his real target is Israel. His concluding rationale suggests he’s confusing washing with drying and that his logic resembles “Bounce,” the fabric softener, to explain his point.
It’s undeniable that Islamist terrorists committed the atrocities of Oct. 7. Their treatment of the surviving hostages is now coming out and it’s as ugly as it could possibly be. Consistent accounts of murder, mayhem, torture, starvation and rape have emerged. It’s also true that not a single account of Gazans trying to help the hostages has come to light.
Mr. Caggiano’s insight about “all God’s children” suffers from a fatal double standard that can’t be distorted to micromanage the remedy for the Oct. 7 horror and its aftermath, and then to blame the Jews. The deviant mindset that committed and enabled the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust deserves no quarter.
As distinguished Israeli professor Dan Shueftan said when asked if Israel planned to kill all of the “Palestinians” he said “no, we just have to kill enough of them so that they’ll stop killing us.”
If Mr. Caggiano can figure out how to accomplish that without attacking and neutralizing the terrorists wherever you find them, including behind their human shields, I suspect the Israeli government would love to know.
