I see the Daily Journal has a new Dem-bashing columnist submitting regular columns. And that’s really all Mr. Walters is doing. Dem bashing. He’s more polished than past anti-lib columnists. But it’s the same old song. The left is to blame for the homeless situation, crime, barking dogs, etc. Blah, blah, blah.
One thing that stays the same at a local level or national level. They never have any solutions. For anything. Just whining and complaining. I’d like to hear just one Republican, just once, come up with a solution for something. Anything. Because I have yet to hear one.
Mr. Newsom is the first governor I can think of who is trying to solve this state’s problems. Including homelessness. So if all you’ve got is complaints send them to the Epoch Times. You’ll have a receptive audience.
We are a corrupt one party state little different from other "one party" states run by Democrats. People who pay most of our taxes and others are leaving the state. We have some of the lowest performing schools, high homeless rates and crime rates due to Prop 47. Name one thing Newsome has done to change any of this other than using a sleight of hand to hide a $68 bil deficit. Democrats are in charge and have no one to blame but themselves.
Yep. Kinda like how the Rethuglicans spent decades blocking every health care initiative, then after Obamacare was passed, another decade trying to repeal it claiming they would replace it with something but never giving any specifics of what they would replace it with. And Obamacare was already based on a moderate Republican plan, it wasn't anything near what we still need in terms of single payer health care.
I have to say - Homelessness could be Gavin Newsom's single biggest failure of his hack political career. Now 700,000 Illegal immigrants are getting free health care including sex changes. People come from all over the country to SF for "Homeless Tourism" because in SF they pay you more money to be homeless than to find permanent shelter - and also give you all the stuff you need to continue your drug addictions. All you gotta do is talk to some of the people living along the Embarcadero - they told me this. Add in the Honduran gangs that control all the drug dealing all over the city that operate with impunity and continue to flood the streets with more addicts. LOL yea - Gavin Newsom is "fixing" the problem. Just like if somebody would come into a hypothetical Dr.'s office saying their finger hurts - and then the Dr. subsequently breaks their leg and says - now your finger doesn't hurt as much as it did before.
I am not a Republican and I do not read the Epoch Times. Just wonderin'... would you consider Republicans introducing AB 335 to repeal Prop. 47 a solution to rampant retail theft across our state?
I don't want to bash Governor Newsom; I like some things he has said and done. With respect to homelessness, he has served as a San Francisco supervisor, San Francisco's mayor, lieutenant governor and governor... that's 26 years on the front lines trying to solve homelessness. Yet, with billions and billions of state dollars being spent, the homelessness problem only gets worse. Do you really think he has been effective in solving the homelessness problem?
Since May 18, 2023, AB 335 has been "In committee: Held under submission"... whatever that means. A survey of Californians shows that 2 out of 3 support AB 335. I wonder why it's being held up?
Steve - our local assemblyman should be able to answer that. As far as I know, most politicians don't want to admit that Prop 47 is a disaster. Remember also, that our current VP pushed it under misleading and confusing ballot language when she was the Secretary of State.
It was pointed out that I erred in our VP Harris pushing Prop 47 as the Secretary of State. Actually, VP Harris was our AG at that time and her office could not have been involved in the pertinent language. Instead, that responsibility was assigned to our Secretary of State at that time, Debra Bowen. I apologize for my mistake.
Unfortunately Mr. Ortiz, you forgot the part where you regale us with Democrat solutions for something. Anything. Because I have yet to hear one. And no, taking credit for our great President Trump’s accomplishments and listing what you think is an accomplishment, but in reality is not even close, isn’t valid. I’m interested in knowing why Newsom losing $32 billion to EDD fraud is an accomplishment. Or telling folks to wear a mask when Newsom doesn’t. Yes, Newsom is solving the state’s problems to the tune of a bigly budget surplus to a bigly budget shortfall. With those “accomplishments” would CA falling into the ocean be a failure?
Come on Steve - the Dem have had a super majority in both houses and the governor's office for years. I tend to agree with you that Republicans have been inconspicuous for some time but if they offer any initiative it is generally DOA anyway because of politics. Tell me, other than dumping millions of dollars down the homeless rathole, what has Newsom accomplished with his grand standing?
Dirk, do you expect Steve to respond? Of course not. He spewed his idealogical ignorance, patted himself on the back and went back into his basement. He had no idea that well informed people were paying attention.... Now he's back into his basement eating his Ben & Jerry's Humble Pie ice cream.

Thank you for bringing up AB 335. One year later do you know where it stands? Seems like it got no attention.
