Editor,
Two new movies and a book are well worth taking in for the importance of their timely messages.
On Netflix. “A House of Dynamite” is a gripping story about the dangers of nuclear weapons and how easy it would be to launch them. In theaters, a beautiful “Wisdom of Happiness,” features Richard Gere in conversation with the Dalai Lama, who speaks directly to the camera about inner peace, happiness and the potential for a peaceful and happy 21st century.
A new book available on most online outlets, “ONE: One Earth. One Humanity. One Future” by Winslow Myers and local activist/writer Libby Traubman addresses both climate change and nuclear weapons. The book explores our way of thinking that allows us to believe war is a deterrence and that somehow we can survive climate change.
The two movies and the book ONE complement one another and together provide a powerful message that should give us pause as we deal with these very challenging times. They are not dark and threatening stories and do provide hope that compels us to action.
