I live near the intersection of Peninsula Avenue and North Humboldt Street. Before electrification, I never heard the Caltrain horn noise. Now I hear the horn, day and night, including at 10:30 p.m. when I am trying to sleep. Caltrain is the noise pollution in my neighborhood.
Why is such a “small” problem, horn noise, turning out to be such a” big” problem for Caltrain

operates? What explains Caltrain’s confusion about what locations and frequency and decibel

levels are required for horn noise? Shouldn’t it already have known them for years?
If slow-moving Caltrain lacks the ability to eliminate the noise pollution it causes in my neighborhood, how can it have the ability to do the complicated job of running a train system over three counties?
Maybe Caltrain doesn’t think my neighborhood’s noise pollution is important enough to address?
If taxpayers get this idea, then taxpayers should review carefully the bond planned for 2026 by the Metropolitan Transportation Committee and its provision of funds for Caltrain.
