Concerned passengers
face economic ruin
Editor,
Recent nail bomb explosive attempt in London, recent terror attempts at JFK and at Fort Dix were thwarted by the alertness of citizens, but when air passengers reported suspicious activity of Muslim Imams, they were sued by CAIR (Council of American Islamic Relations) and face economic ruin from these lawsuits. Next time, citizens may be reluctant to report suspicious terrorist activity. No doubt this brings cheer to Osama and his boys. Thank you CAIR.

Ban the Blue Angels, really?
Editor,
People can be so odd, and it’s too bad more than a few make it their lot in life to serve "in the public interest”.
San Francisco Supervisor Chris Daly has introduced a resolution in favor of banning the annual aerial show above San Francisco performed by the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels.
Daly sites the following reasons: "The potential for an accident in San Francisco is significant”. The amount of jet fuel used for the sake of entertainment while the earth is in a "climate crisis,” and additionally, he said, "the loud fighter jets traumatize people who have fled war- torn countries for the safety of San Francisco.”
Let’s consider his reasons one at a time. Flying a jet aircraft over the city is a potential for mishap. Daly is correct, and should immediately seek a ban on all commercial flights in and out of SFO that fly over bay area cities. The amount of jet fuel will not be saved because just like any of our other defenses, they train almost daily. So, the Navy can either fly these wonderful spectacles of human achievement for our admiration, or they can fly them over the desert. But know this, they will be flying and they will be consuming fuel. Finally to answer his ‘save the traumatized’ theory, if it wasn’t for the heroes of our armed forces, including those magnificent aviators of the Air Force, Marines and the Navy, those "traumatized” refugees wouldn’t have a San Francisco to call home.
It’s all of our tax dollars that pay for the planes, the training, the careers, the flights, so why should we be deprived of seeing how our money is spent? Rather than introducing such ridiculous notions for the consideration of less than 1 percent of the wishes of the Bay Area, let’s keep focused on the real problems that city has before it.

The right to abortion belongs only to God
Editor,
Why is it that when the anti-life organizations and the anti-life politicians lose a court ruling on abortion, they go berserk and become paranoid?
As you have probably witnessed on TV immediately after the court ruling, the anti-life proponents such as Planned Parenthood, Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg come out with their typical rhetoric and same excuse against the ban on partial birth abortion.
Recommended for you
Their first excuse is that the banned method partial birth abortion is often safer then the conventional abortion where the preborn baby is cruelly dismembered in the mother’s womb and then removed in pieces. Wrong. Abortion procedures are all dangerous, especially, to the preborn babies. Some of the physical dangers that are caused by any of the abortion procedures are death, uterine, bowel and bladder perforations, pelvic clots, heart attacks, and is associated to breast cancer and many other future ailments.
Their second excuse is that the ban would be a major setback against women’s right to choose. Wrong again. Firstly, no women should have been given the choice or, so called, legal right to kill her innocent preborn baby. Secondly, only God, the author of life has that right. As you obviously noticed, the anti-life proponents lack any sense of compassion for the victims of the cold-blooded crime of abortion. They are only in a frantic race to declassify the humanity of the fetus, the pre–born baby, so that abortion on demand will not in any way be endangered. Abortion is a direct act of premeditated murder of a human being, and it should have never become legal.
Roe V. Wade should be immediately overturned, and the American people should demand that our country return to its Christian roots upon which it was founded. Lastly, remember, God is the one who created the world and who established the moral code, not the U.S. Supreme Court.

PG&E is falling behind
Editor,
First, a quick tale, then a point. Our house in San Mateo was severely damaged in a fire last Sept. 30. We were displaced into an apartment for about eight months while our house was being rebuilt. Our contractor had said that we would be able to move back into our newly rebuilt house by the end of May. Our contractor began contacting PG&E sometime during the first week of May requesting that the gas and electricity services be restored to our house by the end of May. The area supervisor was mostly unavailable, or his message box was "full,” but at one point when contacted in late May, the supervisor estimated that they would get to that job in "two or three weeks,” but he gave no specific date. It is now July. Service is still not restored to our house — about a two-hour job. Our contractor now calls PG&E nearly daily, but to no avail.
Clearly, since the PG&E bankruptcy filing, they have laid off or allowed to retire many experienced employees; and they are now obviously unable to respond to any but emergency requests for service. This is outrageous! Has anyone else had problems?
This is clearly another argument for "socializing” essential services such as gas and electricity, along with health care, schools, police and fire services. Services that are necessary for the public’s safety, education, health and good order should not be placed exclusively in the hands of private enterprise whose sole goal is profit.

Fanatical loyalty
Editor,
The right of Jews to a homeland has been recognized since catastrophes of the World War I and World War II; first, by the League of Nations and then by the United Nations. Jews are the truly indigenous people living in the land of Israel. From this land their ancestors gave to the world monotheism, the seventh day of rest, the 10 Commandments, and other guiding principles of ancient and modern life. Thus, all the lamentations about establishing Israel on the "almost total Arab land of Palestine” (Ted Rudow, "40th anniversary”, June 27) don’t make any historic and humanitarian sense.
As for the America being "power drunk and overbearingly arrogant” and America’s "fanatical Jewish loyalty,” think about the "benefits” of supporting the Israel’s enemies. And also think about the help that our country has provided to victims of war and nature calamities. Millions of people around the globe are grateful to America. Unfortunately, people like Ted Rudow, are blind to it.
