I would like to thank the Bay Meadows Land Company for hosting the recent community movie night in the park, held on June 25, generating more than $1,000 for the Mid-Peninsula Boys and Girls Club. More than 400 people gathered at Park Place to see the free showing of "Spiderman 2" while enjoying delicious hot dogs and churros.
In preparing for the action-packed movie, families set up cozy picnic areas for their kids to snuggle up and stay warm throughout the evening. The "Spin-the-Wheel" at the Boys and Girls Club booth was especially popular because prizes were given away, including a day pass to the club, hot dogs and churro meals and other fun rewards. Guests also had the opportunity to enter our raffle to win additional gifts, such as movie passes, a DVD player and various gift cards. Many thanks to our volunteers who made these activities possible.
The Mid-Peninsula Boys and Girls Club is a nonprofit agency that has served youth between the ages of 6 and 18 since 1955. Our mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
We greatly appreciate Bay Meadows Land Company's generosity and hope that fundraisers like these will serve as a model for other companies who want to do business in San Mateo.
