My wife and I went through a lot to become parents of our twin boys and, while it isn’t always easy, being a dad is the most rewarding experience I’ll ever have. The impact we have on our children is unparalleled, and it’s the reason why so many of us obsess over what the future will bring and how we might be able to make it better for the next generation.

My own father, Gene Mullin, inspired me to enter public service and there are countless times that I wish he were still here for his wisdom and guidance. He was a civics teacher at a public high school who eventually went on to serve in the California Assembly. Growing up, our conversations around the dinner table were spirited, and we spent time talking about what it means to live in a democracy and be part of a community.

So let me get this straight, Mr. Mullin… You would like to have other states to subsidize California’s mismanagement of the state? But that’s not all, you also want separate regions in the state to subsidize the mismanaged counties and cities in the state? Updating the current FPL may be warranted, but attempting to discriminate against states and regions is never warranted. Is discrimination the lasting impact you want to pass on? Is rewarding bad policy decisions and lack of fiscal restraint the lasting impact you want to pass on? And let’s not get started on this all-electric boondoggle. I’m quite sure kids know electricity doesn’t grow on trees. What they may not know is that they’ll be saddled with debt from an all-electric push.

Mr. Mullin - You say " I want to encourage them to think about their impact on their community and to one day, impart those values on their own kids"

Yes, many of us think about these things quite often. And people voted you in to do something about our problems, like the open border, $millions going to pay for benefits for these illegals when our own people are homeless, and without public benefits. And we hardworking taxpayers, many of whom have never taken a penny from the system, have to pay for these. Many letters have been written to you about different problems in CA, and your answer is always the same.....you appreciate the contact, but that you have decided to either do nothing about the problem or do it "your way" most of which have not accomplished anything. Lots of photo ops, ribbon cuttings, and voting along party lines, etc.

It's time to replace the democrat machine....vote for Anna Cheng Kramer (Rep.) in November. She's smart, accomplished businesswoman, in tune with our California residents and our problems needing change, and solutions.
